Description
This mature Maker’s Mark was created from a blend of 12 and 13-year-old whiskies, resulting in a brighter, fruiter, and more complex style. You can expect notes of shortbread, coconut, and a caramelised almonds, leading to abundant dark fruit and long finish.
Maker’s Mark is renowned for using soft red winter wheat in their mash bill, creating a soft, creamy flavour and sealing their bottles with the famous red wax. Now, they’ve pushed the boundaries once again:
Ageing whiskies in Kentucky presents a challenge due to the extreme climate: if the whisky is left too long in the cask, tannins from the wood are transferred, leading to bitterness. That’s why Maker’s Mark traditionally ages for no more than six years. However, they have addressed this problem by establishing a cool limestone cellar, where their whiskies can now mature for an additional five to six years, all while maintaining their signature soft, creamy character.
The Maker’s Mark Cellar Aged – 2024 Release is a Kentucky whisky, crafted from a mash bill of 70% corn, 16% soft red winter wheat, and 14% malted barley. Aged for at least eleven years, it stands out among Kentucky whiskies.
