Built in the Victorian era, the close of the 20th century saw the Bruichladdich distillery mothballed. New ownership led to a greatly anticipated reopening at the turn of the millennium. This whisky was produced just a few years into the distillery’s reopening, presenting an effervescence of character foretelling of Bruichladdich’s meteoric success.

Distilled in 2005, this single cask offering was matured in a single first-fill ex-bourbon cask for a full 18 years before being presented here in its entirety. Bottled at the natural cask strength of 54.7% ABV without artificial colouring or chill-filtration, with only 195 bottles produced.

Colour: white wine.

Nose: oh my goodness, what a difference! Soft, natural vanilla, ripe melons, fresh brioche, focaccia, macarons This is just perfect. With water: even more wet earth and fallen leaves. Marvellous!

Palate (neat): yes, perfect. Earthy touches, dill, celery, gentian, then high-class green tea, fruit peels, rhubarb With water: all sorts of pastries, muffins, makrouts, brioches, scones, shortbread, angel hair. All with wonderful hints of orange blossom.
